in de series achtervolging voor Jan Mulder en Jeroen Straathof The qualifying rounds of the Men's Tandem Individual Pursuit also had records tumbling with the Dutch team of Jan Mulder and Jeron Straathof breaking the world record of 4:28.959 set in a earlier race with a time of 4:26.498. The Dutch were lucky to finish at all with Mulder's foot coming out of the clip at the beginning. "My foot came out of the pedal (at the start) but I managed to get it in after one rotation so that was a bit of luck." The Spanish teams showed their strength in their qualifying rounds with Christian Venge/Jordi Domingo and Abelardo Gandia/Jose Munoz qualifying fourth and second respectively. The Dutch competition leaders were not surprised at the excellent performance of the Spanish team. "The Spanish team have been coming up in the last two years, so it's not a surprise they went so well." The current world champion team of Paul Clohessy and Eddie Hollands (AUS) also performed well enough in their ride to qualify for tomorrow's semifinals. |
